scandinavian inspiration

the very first picture i tore from a magazine to inspire our living room came from the now gone domino magazine.

the curtains were made from joseph frank textiles. we ended up going with a print from kokka, but the image stayed in my head nevertheless.

josef frank, a scandinavian textile artist, designed over 200 prints in the first half of the twentieth century. frank described it best by saying, "the home does not have to be planned out in detail, just put together by pieces its inhabitants love" (scandinavian design). that's the perfect quote for xoxo decorate with love!

mike and i were pretty bummed out that moomah was closed for a party, but were super excited to see that next door to moomah was just scandinavia- a store that specialized in josef frank textiles. immediately, the domino image popped right into my head. surprisingly, my husband was also really taken with the prints.

grace from designsponge also posted about how mamma mia had tons of shots with josef frank textiles:

but, it's hard to see how this fabric would work unless you had a really toned down room. don't you think the colors would compete?

xoxo,
maddie
